This story takes you on a journey. The journey was an adventure with mystery and intrigue mixed in. Jo's family secrets begin to unravel when her maternal grandmother dies and leaves her with a scrapbook and note. She never met her grandmother, assuming she had left her mother as a baby.
Jo's curiosity wins so she sets out on the journey to "take her grandmother home". She uses the scrapbook as a beginning to figure out where to go, since she was not given much information. Along the way she meets family and friends who paint a very different picture than the one she grew up believing.
I really enjoyed the family and friends she met on the journey. Some significant others small but each of them adding another piece to her puzzle and bringing her grandmother to life. Jo was able to see her grandmother through the eyes of those that loved and respected her.
